Construction of Stage 1 of the Gold Coast Cultural Precinct begins in January

Local artists recently submitted designs for the mesh shade that will cover the construction fencing. A unique feature of the Gold Coast Cultural Precinct design is the naturally-occurring, cellular voronoi pattern. Artists were challenged to use this as an inspiration when creating their designs. The mesh fencing will be on display for 18 months and will provide a visual representation of the Gold Coast Cultural Precinct. More HERE from the original Facebook post from Mayor Tom Tate.

Sunland officially unveils its $600-million The Mariner to city leaders as objections are filed

One of the nation’s largest aquariums, a public science and art centre and floating parklands have been unveiled as major features of a $600-million development of the Mariner’s Cove site on The Spit.

Sunland’s 44-storey, twin-tower project The Mariner was last night unveiled to a crowd of the Gold Coast’s movers and shakers as the developer’s charm offensive to win over the community continues. More HERE from the original Gold Coast Bulletin article.

Spit-Southport bridge plan raised

The push is on to build a bridge between Southport and The Spit to help solve one of the Gold Coast’s worst traffic gridlocks.

With three major developments proposed for the Spit, city leaders are now turning their attention to moving increasingly larger numbers of people to and from the beachfront area. More HERE from the original Gold Coast Bulletin article.
