Major Progress for Coomera Hospital Development

Major Progress for Coomera Hospital Development

The future Coomera Hospital is gaining momentum, with a major milestone reached following the completion of its Concept Design under the Queensland Government’s Hospital Rescue Plan.

The updated plans significantly expand the project, increasing capacity from 400 to 600 beds and reinforcing the hospital’s role as a key piece of infrastructure for the rapidly growing northern Gold Coast corridor.

Key features of the development include:

  • A 12-storey Clinical Services Building housing the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Operating Theatres, Mental Health, Maternity, Paediatric, and Renal services, along with multiple inpatient units;
  • A seven-storey Ambulatory Care Building providing outpatient clinics, Day Oncology, Allied Health, Pathology, and education facilities, connected to the main hospital via link bridges;
  • Multi-storey car parking and on-grade parking.

The project will be delivered in stages, with a fully operational 400-bed hospital expected by 2031, and the additional 200 beds to follow as part of Stage 2 by 2032.

Beyond improving access to essential healthcare services, the development is also expected to generate significant economic benefits, including around 1,000 jobs during peak construction.

What this means for the local area
Major infrastructure like this continues to highlight the strong growth and long-term potential of the Coomera region. Increased employment opportunities, improved amenities, and population growth all contribute to ongoing demand for housing and investment in the area.
